EXHIBITION: Yevhen Kinnota: JUST AN ORDINARY DAY IN CAPTIVITY

Výstava

Imagine if atrocity became neutral. How might routine look then?

The author sketched seven objects, each representing a day of the week. The seven lightboxes are mounted throughout the festival area to illuminate the daily practices within prisons.

Currently, over 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers are held captive by Russia. The Office of the UN High
Commissioner for Human Rights reports that up to 80% of these prisoners endure systematic torture,
including:
Execution imitation
Beatings
Stab wounds
Electric shock
Suffocation
Chemical injections
Dog attacks
Hanging
Bone fractures
Burns
Stripping
Rape
Threats
Tattoo removal
Psychological pressure
Hunger

The Transnational Artistic Showcase “Reimagining Realities” is an interdisciplinary
collaboration residency that unites artists from in Slovakia and Ukraine and seeks to delve
into complex themes such as wartime experiences, climate change, digital tools in conflict,
resistance, and the profound impact of propaganda on memory and societal mindset.
The Reimagining Realities project is implemented by Tabačka Kulturfabrik n.o. with the
support of the IZOLYATSIA foundation, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlín and co-financed
by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program, created with the support of the European Union under a
dedicated call for proposals to support Ukrainian displaced people and the Ukrainian Cultural
