Vitaly Yankovy: I WANT TO BE READY FOR A MOMENTS LIKE THIS

Decision-making can come from rational or spontaneous logic. In both cases, before the final action can happen, an act of preparation takes place – a plan, a test, a thought. Considering migration basically as a physical movement that follows imagination, preparation can be viewed through a metaphor of a rehearsal, warming up before the main move.

The important part of migration is a struggle for resources and better places (The idea that: “We all dream of better places”). The competitiveness that is a part of workout or fitness culture can be compared with the competitiveness of migration. In both cases warming up (a rehearsal) comes before the main action. Bird and human migration may have different reasons but can overlap in terms of navigating through landscape and decisions.

The Transnational Artistic Showcase “Reimagining Realities” is an interdisciplinary collaboration residency that unites artists from in Slovakia and Ukraine and seeks to delve into complex themes such as wartime experiences, climate change, digital tools in conflict, resistance, and the profound impact of propaganda on memory and societal mindset.
